World Upside Down’s Aladdin Jr. & Kids Brought the Genie Magic
This fall, World Upside Down Arts Studio invited Greenville families to step into a world of adventure, laughter, and learning with our youth theater in Greenville performances of Disney’s Aladdin JR and Disney’s Aladdin KIDS. Presented at the Simpsonville Arts Center, these two productions showcased performers ages 5–17, each telling the same beloved story through age-appropriate staging, choreography, and musical performance. With two casts, two magical shows, and dozens of young actors shining onstage, this weekend of musical theater celebrated creativity, confidence, and community.
Show Dates and Synopsis
November 14, 15, 21, 22
Simpsonville Arts Center
110 Academy St, Simpsonville, SC 29681
Based on the Disney animated film, Disney’s Aladdin JR and Disney’s Aladdin KIDS take audiences to Agrabah, where a kind-hearted dreamer named Aladdin discovers that even the most ordinary person can change their world. Along the way, he meets a witty genie, challenges the scheming Jafar, and learns that honesty and courage matter more than riches or wishes.
The youth-friendly adaptations follow Aladdin as he:
- Stands up to injustice to protect his friends
- Wishes for a chance to be seen as more than “a street rat”
- Realizes Princess Jasmine values truth and heart above status
- Discovers his future is brighter when he stays true to who he is
With well-known songs like “Friend Like Me,” “Prince Ali,” and “A Whole New World,” the productions were filled with fun, heart, and timeless messages for kids and adults alike.

“Meet the Cast”: Fostering Community Connections
On November 1st, World Upside Down hosted a Meet the Cast celebration, welcoming families and building excitement for Disney’s Aladdin JR and Aladdin KIDS. Highlights included face painting, a behind-the-scenes tour, and mini-performances by the cast, giving attendees a sneak peek at the students’ hard work. Guests also had photo opportunities with cast members and directors, capturing memories before opening weekend.
Families sampled Agrabah-inspired snacks and treats, making the experience even more immersive and bringing the story to life offstage. Special ticket giveaways allowed more local families to enjoy the magic of youth theater firsthand.
This celebration demonstrated World Upside Down’s dedication to creating an inclusive, community-centered environment where young performers and families feel connected, celebrated, and inspired through the arts
