A New Chapter: All Arts Programs Now United Under World Upside Down Arts Studio

Big changes are coming to the vibrant community of World Upside Down Arts Studio as it merges its core programs into the World Upside Down nonprofit. This move will create more opportunities for students, more support for families, and a stronger mission-driven foundation for the arts in Greenville County. Beginning this summer, all of our signature programs—after-school arts, theater productions, and weekly arts classes—will officially operate under our nonprofit organization, World Upside Down, headquartered at worldupsidedown.org.

This merger represents more than just an administrative shift. It reflects our growing commitment to making the arts more inclusive, accessible, and community-focused. By consolidating under one nonprofit umbrella, we’ll be able to offer expanded programming, increase scholarship opportunities, and invite more families—especially those navigating special needs or financial challenges—into the creative process.

Why the Change?

Since its founding, World Upside Down Arts Studio has existed to offer high-quality arts education with a heart for community. Our after-school arts program has picked up students from local schools and provided a safe, inspiring space for visual art, music, theater, and dance. Our theater program has brought musicals to life with students from across the Upstate. And our weekly classes in puppetry, painting, acting, and more have welcomed students of all abilities.

Meanwhile, our nonprofit organization, World Upside Down, has been quietly growing behind the scenes—serving the same mission but with a broader vision for outreach and impact. Now, by bringing both arms together, we’re simplifying things for families and ensuring that everything we do is aligned with our mission: Teach the arts, change the world.

What Does This Mean for Families?

If you’ve been part of our arts studio community, you’ll still see the same friendly faces, beloved teachers, and creative curriculum. But you’ll also notice a few exciting new updates:

  • Centralized Information: All program details, registration forms, class descriptions, and performance dates will now live at www.worldupsidedown.org.

  • Nonprofit Benefits: We can now offer tax-deductible donations, apply for grants, and accept more scholarship applications than ever before.

  • Broader Mission Support: Your participation directly supports our outreach to students with disabilities, homeschool families, and Title I schools.

A Creative Community for All

One of the most exciting aspects of this transition is the launch of arts-integrated ABA therapy under World Upside Down Arts Studio, which will continue operating separately from the nonprofit. While all other programs are merging under the World Upside Down nonprofit, the arts studio will focus on expanding creative, customized support for families on the autism spectrum. This includes individualized programming and staff training in trauma-informed, arts-based therapy.

What’s Next?

We’re deepening our partnerships with local educators, churches, and organizations to bring the arts into places where they are often underrepresented. Whether your child is performing on stage, painting in an after-school class, or participating in summer arts camp, they’re now part of a movement to make the arts a healing and unifying force in our community.

Keep an eye on your inbox and social media for announcements about:

  • Our Summer Camps

  • The upcoming Fall Theater Production

  • New class offerings launching in August

  • Volunteer and donation opportunities to support our mission

We’re so grateful to the families, artists, educators, and supporters who have made World Upside Down what it is today. With this new chapter, we can dream bigger, reach farther, and serve more creatively than ever before.
